Queens Park – Outdoor gym workout

We live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and yet we also live in a country where 21% of us are obese, which is twice as much as 1993. While we see ourselves as an active nation in fact we face the same health crisis as the USA. It’s not all doom and gloom however when you look at the amazing environment around us & combine that with the moderate weather which allows us all an opportunity to enjoy all the great beaches and parks Sydney has to offer. As Michael discussed in one an earlier blogs on outdoor gyms, many local councils are now installing exercise equipment across Sydney. Its only our imagination that can prevent us from getting an excellent workout using the basic equipment mother nature has given us. The following workouts were performed at my local Ewan - Level 1outdoor gym in Queens Park, the location of our Thursday morning OUTFIT X class. The OUTFIT X class uses gymnastics along with the traditional metabolic conditioning (or ‘cardio’) and weightlifting modalities. It doesn’t matter how fit, or unfit, you are this workout will test anyone and everyone. The only equipment required is a pull-up bar. Complete all workouts after a complete warm up.

Level 1 – Beginner
With a running clock perform as many rounds as possible in 10min.
5 jumping pull-ups
10 knee pushups
15 bodyweight squats

Level 2 – IntermediateEwan -  Level 2
With a running clock perform as many rounds as possible in 15min.
5 jumping pull-ups
10 pushups
15 bodyweight squats

Level 3 – Advanced
With a running clock perform as many rounds as possible in 20min.
5 pull-ups
10 pushups
15 bodyweight squats

We always focus on form before intensity, make sure you obtain full range of motion for each and every rep.
